Changbaishan Biosphere Reserve is home to Heavenly Lake of Changbai Mountain - China's highest volcanic crater lake. It is designated by UNESCO in 1979, Changbaishan is one of China's first three Biosphere Reserves.

It is a volcanic wonderland nearly twice the size of Hong Kong. In Northeast China, Changbaishan is a stunning natural lab where mountain ecosystems and geodiversity thrive. It's the source of the Songhua, Yalu, and Tumen Rivers - a place where fire, ice, and life meet in spectacular harmony.

From temperate to subalpine zones, Changbaishan harbors rich plant and animal life, Korean pine towers above, Manchurian ash thrives, and Amur tigers roam the snowy forests.

The biosphere is a haven for biodiversity research and hosts the CAS Changbaishan Forest Ecosystem Research Station.
